Advance Preparation and Setup
Make a copy of the Blackline Master for each student. To prevent damage to the integrated circuit, give the students the circuit boards with the 555 already installed. Strip the last centimeter of insulation from the short wires. Since the battery clip wires are stranded, solder a short piece of solid wire to each end (since only solid wire can be inserted in the socket board). Likewise, be sure that the speaker leads are either solid wire or, if stranded, have short solid pieces soldered to each end. Use 22 gauge wire. Larger-diameter (smaller #) wire can be jammed into the socket board, but it will eventually damage the sockets. |
