Teaching Notes

If you wish, feel free to explain to the students the internal wiring of the socket board (see Background Information above) or have the students engage in the side excursions on DC circuits available on the CPU Simulation Activities CD. Directions to the students, teacher notes and designed simulations are available on that CD. This side excursion is designed to follow Physics To Go on page 215.

Urge the students to check and recheck their circuits after completing the wiring. You might remind them that the 4.7 μF capacitor must be oriented correctly, with the plus end toward the speaker. On the other hand, the orientation of the resistors, and also the other capacitor, is not important.

This activity utilizes a number of small parts. Ask the students to carefully inventory their materials at the beginning and end of the lab period.
