What Do You Think? When a starship goes in warp drive, Star Trek violates the laws of physics. The theory of relativity stipulates that matter cannot be accelerated to the speed of light (or beyond). In addition, “beaming up” requires the complete conversion of matter into energy, possible only in matter-antimatter annihilation. Also, the genetic information from the DNA would be destroyed by the “transporter.” So it seems unlikely that Star Trek predicts the future. There are some aspects of Star Trek, like multicultural teams working together, that make sense. Computer technologies are also plausible. |
